Cork gutters fail predictably — here's the pattern
On a typical Cork semi-D, brackets fail before the gutter itself. First sign is water spilling over the front edge in heavy rain, then a sagging section, then a torn-loose run after the first autumn gale. Catch it at the bracket stage and you pay €180–€400 for the repair. Wait until the gutter tears off and the fascia rots, you're into €700+ per elevation plus carpentry on the rotted fascia.
Coastal Cork — Cobh, Crosshaven, Kinsale, Cork Harbour — has its own pattern. Galvanised brackets fail 2–3× faster than inland Cork because of salt aerosol. We re-spec everything to A4 stainless on coastal jobs to break the cycle. For homes near trees, a mesh gutter guard install turns the annual clean into a 5-year inspection.
What a Cork gutter visit actually includes
A standard clean on a two-storey Cork semi is a full run: debris out, downpipes flushed, outlets checked, fascia rinsed, and a before/after photo set emailed the same day. That is the €80–€140 job. Repair is a different ticket — failed brackets, split unions, or a section hanging off the rafter. Replacement is quoted per elevation because a front run on a Douglas semi is not the same as a three-storey Cobh terrace with cast iron.
We work uPVC, aluminium and cast iron. Cast iron on harbour streets is restored where the metal is sound and replaced where it has holed. uPVC is fine on modern estates if the fall is reset and the brackets are stainless on coastal sites.
